Preschool Vision
Our Vision is to be the leading Preschool in the Novi area by offering our children a comprehensive program and environment structured for their social growth and academic development. Preschool MissionOur Mission is the direction and development of our preschool programs. Our first priority is our children. We provide a variety of developmentally appropriate opportunities which allow each child to grow socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually. Our staff encourages children to explore and grow in a safe and nurturing environment. REGISTRATION FOR THE 2008/2009 SCHOOL YEARFaith Community Preschool announces registration for the 2008-2009 school year for our 3-year old and 4-year old preschool programs. We also offer a parent/child Little Learners program for 2-year-olds, which has ongoing registration for the current school year. Requirements:
There is a $50 non-refundable registration fee. OPEN HOUSEFaith Community Preschool will be having their annual Open House on Saturday, February 2, 2008 from 10:0 AM to Noon. Come and meet the teachers, see the rooms and learn about the programs. This is for anyone interested in learning more about our preschool or anyone interested in preschool for 3 or 4 year olds for the 2008-2009 school year. For more information, call the preschool at 248-349-7911. 3-YEAR OLD PROGRAM Our main objective in the three-year old program is to lay the groundwork for next year and your child's upcoming school days. Our main focus is socialization. For many children, this is the first time they are interacting with others without a parent present. Our 3-year olds experience being part of a team by working and playing with other children and adults. Helping them become happy, self-confident and well-adjusted children is our ultimate goal. Much of preschool learning is unseen in regard to so-called "paper work." However, that does not mean that learning isn't taking place. Some of the things our 3-year olds learn are independence, sitting quietly for circle time, taking turns, respecting each other, being kind, and cleaning up. We provide many pre-writing and pre-reading activities to enhance our 3-year olds' development. Using the sand and water table, playing with playdough, painting, gluing, cutting, sorting smaller objects, and playing with manipulative toys like Legos, blocks, and puzzles all help build their fine motor skills. Gross motor skills are developed in both large and small group activities inside and outside the classroom (weather permitting). They play parachute games and listening games, and use our indoor climber, tunnel and tents. 4-YEAR OLD PROGRAMThe 4-year old program is designed to provide successful learning experiences and develop kindergarten readiness skills. Our teaching goals are developmental and we strive to meet the varying emotional, social, physical, and academic development of each child. In the 4-year old program, we continue to build on the skills established in our three's program. Reading and writing readiness skills include drawing, singing and rhyming, listening to a story, and picture reading. Children will be focusing and engaging in specific tasks to broaden their concentration and attention span. Our program includes an introduction to letter recognition and the students make their own special alphabet book. Sorting items and patterning help our 4-year olds in the area of mathematics. They have many opportunities to organize, count, weigh, compare, sequence, and measure. Physical activities take place both inside the classroom and on the playground when weather permits. Children will continue to learn to take turns, share and be part of a team. Fine motor skills will be enhanced through art, beading, manipulative toys, Legos, coloring, and writing. LITTLE LEARNERS (2-YEAR OLD) PROGRAMThis weekly parent/child class is designed for the young child (must be 2 years by December 1, 2007). A parent or caregiver accompanies the child in this fun, group experience that emphasizes socialization and encourages exploration. Activities are developmentally appropriate, and may include crafts, songs, stories, and finger plays. Pictures of Preschool Classrooms
