CROP WalkSunday October 7, 2007
Help CROP Stop Hunger! The 20th Annual Novi-Northvile CROP Walk for hunger relief takes place on Sunday, October 7, 2007. This event joins churches in our community to raise money for the hunger relief efforts of Church World Service, the mission arm of the National Council of Churches. Like last year, the six mile Walk starts and ends at the Novi Civic Center on Ten Mile. Last year, our Walk raised $17, 000 for hunger relief programs around the world. Twenty-five percent of those funds stayed in our community to support Northville Civic Concern, Active Faith of South Lyon, and First Step Shelter in Canton. Walker sponsor sheets and further details will be available in the narthex in the Narthex. Help is also needed with registration and break stations. Please contact Tom Anan at 248-347-2457 for more information. Please continue to pray for those suffering from hunger in our world and the work of Church World Services. Faith Community Fun RunSaturday August 18, 2007 The Faith Community Fun Run is back! Please mark you calendar and join both 5K runners/joggers and one-mile fun runners/walkers in our third year of having this family event. For some of the "new" people, this was an event that started back in June 1982. It took a siesta for a few years, but with the help of our Faith Community congregational members and volunteers from the local Novi Tracker Running club, it has grown each year We are always looking for volunteers to assist with registering the runners that morning and help out on our 5 kilometer race course. This year's event is scheduled for Saturday August 18; the 1 Mile Fun Run will start at 8:30 AM, and the 5K Race will start at 9:00 AM. If you have or are an organization that would like to volunteer please contact us. Below is a short list of tasks where we can always use help. Pre-Race Set-up helpYou would arrive early to help set up tables and chairs for registration. Assist in the registration of entrants' for both the 5K race & 1MFR. Help set up of the Start/Finish banner for beginning of events. Course MarshalsBe at designated locations or street corners to direct runners and monitor or act as traffic guard. Call out the split times for runners at the 1 and 2 mile marks. Help out getting the cones/mile markers out on race course that morning. Take tables, cups, supplies and hand out water to runners at designated spots on the course. Post raceAssist with giving out 5K awards and raffle prizes.
