Education Committee

The Education Committee is a committee of the Session and is composed of members from the Session and members from the congregation at large.

The Education Committee is responsible for structuring and evaluating the educational programs of the church. It recruits and trains teachers for the church school, provides materials and develops curriculum to support Christian learning for all age groups. Its responsibilities include the Church School, youth programs and adult study activities.

Ministry to children and youth is one of the highest priorities of Faith Community Presbyterian Church. We have a number of programs and events to address the spiritual and religious growth of our young people.

Children's Ministry

Children's Message
A Children's Message is offered each Sunday during the first part of worship service. During the Children's Message portion of our service, the children respond to the worship service with spontaneous discussion. The children are then dismissed to their church school classes. They also participate directly in worship by sometimes leading in prayer, reading scripture and designing bulletin covers.

Sunday School
Sunday school is offered at the 10:00 AM services for children from preschool through grade 8.

We are proud to use the Faithwever curriculum. This exciting program has a "through the Bible" three year scope. Children of all ages study the same Bible story in age appropriate ways. Take home papers offer family activities to reinforce each lesson.

LOGOS

LOGOS is a weekly youth fellowship program offered on Wednesday afternoons from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. The children participate in Bible study, recreation, dinner and worship skills. Each week there is a different theme that guides the recreation and dinner aspects of this fun program.

Youth Ministry

Mid-High and Senior High Youth Groups
The Mid-High High Youth Group meets at 11:30 AM on Sundays. The Senior High Youth Group meets at 6:00 pm on Sundays. Both youth groups and are engaged in a number of activities meant to strengthen their relationship with one another and with God. They also participate in special activities each year such as Springhill retreats, a visit to Cedar Point, Relay for Life, and the Pittsburg Project.

Confirmation
Confirmation is held each year for the ninth-graders beginning in October. Classes meet Sunday mornings at 11:30 AM. Each confirmand has a sponsor who guides them through this step in their spiritual journey. Confirmation concludes with a Confirmation Celebration dinner.

Imagine living in the dusty town of Nazareth right before Jesus began his ministry. You'd hear whispering about the carpenter's kid who says he's the Son of God. You might share a meal with Jesus and his family or play tag with Mary's boy in the town marketplace. Secretly, you might wonder if the child down the street could really be your Messiah. In Hometown Nazareth your child can become part of history as they see, hear, touch and even taste what it was like to live in Jesus' hometown. They will visit Mary's house, take part in traditional games and explore marketplace shops as they discover more about Jesus' childhood.
